The Hour of Code is HERE! The Hour of Code is a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify "code", to show that anybody can learn the basics, and to broaden participation in the field of computer science. It has become a worldwide effort to celebrate computer science with over 450 million Hours of Code completed so far. Check out the Hour of Code Web Clips and Swift Playgrounds app that were sent to your iPad today. There's Star Wars and Minecraft themed code projects if you're just getting started with code. There's the Codecademy and W3Schools tutorial sites if you're up for more of a coding challenge. And then there's Swift Playgrounds which is a great app for learning how to program in Swift no matter what your skill level. Swift is the language used to create iOS apps for iPads and iPhones. The challenge is to see if you can complete one hour's worth of coding this week. Can you do it? Can you complete an Hour of Code?

The Hour of Code happens this week because this is Computer Science Education Week. Both events are held annually in recognition of the birthday of computing pioneer Admiral Grace Murray Hopper who was born on December 9, 1906. Listen for more Hour of Code announcements this week. Pick a project and complete your Hour of Code!
