Alumna Maille O'Connor '16 Named Head Varsity Cheer Coach

A 2016 grad is coming home!  Montini Catholic  is proud to announce that Maille O'Connor is our new Head Varsity Cheerleading Coach heading into the 2021-22 school season.

Maille, who captained the Bronco cheer team during her senior year at Montini (and was a member of the Bronco Cheer Team throughout her high school years), is a recent graduate of the University of St. Francis where she majored in Psychology. Her life-long passion for cheerleading as well as her loyalty to her Bronco family, brought her back to the Montini gym with the hopes of sharing her enthusiasm and experience with her new team.

The Bronco cheer program has seen the girls qualifying for state for two out of the last three seasons, under the leadership of Coach Pat Donlan.  Coach O'Connor intends to infuse new energy into the team's efforts and will continue to set the bar high. "I am so excited to be the new head Varsity Cheer Coach here at Montini!  Being an alumni, I take pride in giving back to my community," said Coach O'Connor.  "Seeing the progression and growth of this program has been so impressive and a major reason I want to continue the legacy especially in a new division. My goal as a new coach is to continue the development of these student athletes with hard work, dedication and passion."

Coach O'Connor has already invested an immense amount of time in the sport she loves since graduating from Montini.  She served as Assistant Cheer Coach under Montini coach, Patrick Donlan, last season and is currently the Assistant Coach for Cheer Extreme Allstars, teaching drilling motions and perfecting the team's technical skills.   Her goal at Montini is to push her girls to strive for perfection by being their 'biggest cheerleader.'  "Something I have learned as a coach is that when you invest time in an athlete and show them that you genuinely care about them, it truly motivates them and elevates their performance to the next level."

"We are greatly looking forward to having Maille back on campus and in our school community," said Athletic Director, Brian Casey.  "As an alum and a former Bronco cheerleader, Maille understands the standards we have for our student athletes.  Her experience and passion for cheerleading will undoubtedly help take our program to even greater heights."

Welcome home, Maille!
