Artist of the Month for September

Congratulations to junior, Maria Hemmersmeier, for being named Bronco Artist of the Month for September.  Maria was selected for the honor by art teacher and Fine Arts Department Chair, Ms. Stephanie Kuecker.  "Maria has taken courses with all three art teachers here at Montini, Mrs. Lee, Mrs. Kwit, and myself and we all agree that she is a very talented student," said Ms. Kuecker.  "She is very hard working and is able to be patient while creating her artwork.  She has completed excellent work throughout her time here."
"I was surprised to be selected," said Maria, who enjoys her art classes at Montini and creates at home as well.  "I never really considered myself to be an amazing artist, but I was honored to be chosen!"  Her medium of choice - colored pencils.  "I like how I can mix the colors and the shading of the colors."  Maria loves drawing landscapes and city-scapes and welcomes the challenge of perspective and attention to detail in creating these works of art.  "Ms. Kuecker inspires me because she’s a great teacher and she works really hard to better her students as artists."
Brother, Jack (senior), is an artist as well, and also enjoyed Bronco 'Artist of the Month' accolades during his junior year in 2018.
"Maria is a very kind young person," adds Ms. Kuecker.  "She is always helping students in the class who are having a hard time with their projects. Currently, she is creating a painting of the stained glass piece that is located outside of our chapel.  I can't wait to see it as well as the other work she'll complete in Design I!"
Maria is from Elmhurst and is the daughter of Daniel and Susan Hemmersmeier.  She graduated from Visitation Catholic School and is a member of Visitation Parish in Elmhurst.
