Congratulations to our 30 AP Scholars - including 1 National AP Scholar

Montini Catholic High School is recognizing thirty outstanding students honored as AP Scholars.   The AP Program offers several AP Scholar Awards to recognize high school students who have demonstrated college-level achievement through AP courses and exams.

Scores were announced by The Advanced Placement Program.  Ninety (90) Montini Catholic students took 162 exams with an average score of 3.4 resulting in a 77% success rate - test takers earning college credit.  Thirty-six Montini students achieved perfect 5s on their exams.

Montini Catholic’s academic program, which includes an offering of 15 AP Courses, paves the way for higher academic achievement resulting in graduates accumulating close to 56 million in academic scholarship offers in the past three years alone. Advanced Placement courses are high school courses presenting college level curriculum and include the opportunity to take a test at the end of the year to earn college credit.  Students can earn scores between one and five, and students must score at least a three to earn college credit. Currently, Montini offers AP courses in a variety of subjects including English, Math, Science, Social Studies, Technology and World Language.

Over the past five years, 27% of Bronco seniors graduating have earned a 3+ on at least one exam - earning student college credit before stepping on their college campuses.  (Over the past five years) an average of 97 Montini Catholic students have taken 168 exams each year.  The average score on those exams is 3.4 which is higher than the Illinois average of 3.0.  Of Broncos taking these exams 77% earned a 3+ score on exams (compared to 64% of Illinois students); 20% earned a 5 on exams (compared to 15% of Illinois students); and 42% earned a 4 or 5 on AP English exams (compared to 28% of Illinois students).
