Montini Catholic junior James Hubeny was recently named a member of the Technology Center of DuPage's 'A Team' for the first semester. James received the award at a special ceremony on February 7th (at the Gates Center, Addison) for his achievement of earning an 'A' during his first semester in the center's Auto Tech Program.
Technology Center of DuPage (TCD) offers DuPage County area high school juniors and seniors 20 career and technical education programs (CTE) as part of their high school curriculum. Its mission is to provide an educational environment that supports and encourages individual learning styles, develops occupational skills and professionalism, promotes academic growth, and assists students in discovering their potential.
"Being named to the A Team is recognition for James’ outstanding achievement," said TCD representative, Amy Carta. " We feel this represents many hours of work by James along with the combined efforts of both the Montini Catholic staff and our own."
James is enthusiastic about the Auto Tech course and plans on taking another semester during his senior year at Montini in preparation for an Auto Tech major in college. "I have always had an affinity to building and working with systems," said James, who travels everyday from the Montini campus to the Technology Center in Addison. "It has been very enjoyable working on cars and learning about them. It has been my favorite part of the school day!"
James' passion for learning has also earned him recognition as Montini's Bronco Student of the Month for December/January. "Jimmy represents the best of Montini Catholic through his work and service to the community," said Montini Catholic Principal Kevin Beirne. "He has received accolades for his leadership in youth volleyball at his grade school (St. Mary of Gostyn School in Downers Grove) and was named to the Technology Center of DuPage’s A-Team for the first semester. Through these efforts Jimmy truly represents to the outside community what Montini is all about."
James is the son of James and Katie Doll Hubeny '96 of Westmont. He attended St. Mary of Gostyn School in Downers Grove and is a member of St. Mary of Gostyn Parish.
