This year, Montini Catholic's Lasallian Youth group members have embarked on a monthly 'divine' adventure outside of the Theology classroom. One Sunday every month the group gets together for what they have named Divine Donut Sunday. "This idea came about because of the desire for my students to take their faith more seriously," said Theology teacher and Lasallian Youth Advisor, Mr. Denis Block. "They weren't really sure where to start." The group put their heads together and decided that the best place to be to strengthen one's faith would be Sunday Mass - "Of course, donuts after, adds a little more enjoyment to any morning!"
In January, group members decided to step out of the box a bit and have a 'Divine BBQ' Night. The group of young Lasallians traveled to Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Westmont for their Saturday evening Mass (4 PM). From there it was on to Uncle Bub's in Westmont to experience their award winning BBQ and famous 'hot sauce wall.'
Block and his students hope their new idea will become a Lasallian Youth tradition - visiting a new local parish each month for Mass and fellowship afterwards.
