Montini Catholic proudly congratulated this year's Pax Christi Instrument of Peace Award recipient from their Class of 2022.  The prestigious award was announced on Friday, July 20th, during the Lasallian college preparatory high school's Founder's Day ceremony.

This year's Pax Christi Instrument of Peace Award went to senior Jessica Watts.  "Each year, this esteemed award recognizes a Bronco student who has devoted themselves to God by working in the Lasallian tradition to serve others and to build a heritage of faith in the community," said Montini Catholic President Jim Segredo. "Jessica attended Montini for just one year (after the closing of St. Joseph High School).

Throughout her brief time here, however, she has displayed a commitment to our Catholic faith and mission of service." Jessica, who is headed to Northwestern University this fall to pursue a career in Journalism,  was also honored as a St. John Baptist De La Salle Award recipient.  The Illinois State Scholar was also honored earlier this year as one of forty-nine Bronco Academic All Stars. She is a recipient of the President's Academic Excellence Award and a member of Montini Catholic's National Honor and Spanish Honor Societies.  She joined the Bronco's $300,000 Scholarship Club - earning over $300,000 in academic scholarship offers during her college decision process.

It was her dedication to service, however, that earned her the Pax Christi Award.  Jessica did not hesitate to join Montini's Peer Ministry upon her arrival at Montini her senior year.  She was also a very active member of the Student Government and Montini Maniac (school spirit) Team and actively supported Montini's annual Golden Gobbler Thanksgiving Food Drive and Adopt-a-Family events.  She was among the seniors who opted to attend Montini's inspiring Kairos (senior) retreat this year.

"We are so honored to present this award to Jessica," said President Segredo. "She truly exemplifies the Christ-centered leadership qualities we need here at Montini and in the world."
