Montini Catholic's Bronco Softball Team found a way to show their support for a much loved team member and her family. Throughout the month of March, the girls will be wearing blue in honor of Colon Cancer Awareness Month and in memory of Jill Franklin, mother of senior captain Ava Franklin, who lost her battle with colon cancer in 2019. "With the season cancellation and calendar shifts due to covid, this is the first year that Ava will be playing in March since her mom's passing," said Head Coach Erin Bradarich. "March is Colon Cancer Awareness month, and with this being Ava's senior season, her teammates asked if they could wear blue during our games throughout the month to honor Ava, her family, and most importantly her mom."
Coach Bradarich thought it was an incredible idea. "The Franklin family has been a big part of our Bronco Softball program. Neena ('18) was a part of our 2018 State Championship team, John ('21) volunteered his time to help at practice, and Ava ('22) captains our varsity team. This is just our way of showing Ava how important she and her mom are to our Bronco softball family!"
