College Planning Overview
There are many resources available to students to guide them through the college planning and application process.  This College Planning Guide will provide you with information you need to make the best decision about college.  The College Checklist for Senior Parents will help keep both parents and students focused on the basic application timeline.  The Application Process Guide walks parents and students through the steps to take to complete an application and discusses deadlines for FAFSA and explains early decision/early acceptance policies.  All these resources are valuable tools in helping students apply and make college decisions.

Scholarship Information
There are many ways to make college affordable. Through loans, scholarships and grants, students are opening doors to different schools that may not have been possible before.  Students can also search for scholarships available from private funds and corporations. Look at the sites below:

Your first step in college financial aid, after choosing a school, is to fill out the FAFSA, which opens on October 1st. This is the Federal Student Aid form.  FAFSA on the Web  answers questions about the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. You can create your FAFSA account and complete the online form through the FAFSA link.

College Fairs, Events and Programs (at Montini Catholic and off campus visits)
Montini Catholic welcomes College Admission Officers to campus from September - December during lunch periods.   The students are able to meet with these officers, ask questions and gain more knowledge about a variety of colleges and universities without ever leaving campus. Please click here for the Counseling Calendar which lists on- campus college visits, presentations and testing dates at Montini.

College Visit Days are ways for prospective students to truly experience life at a university. These days can allow a high school student more insight into their choices for their future years in education.  All seniors are granted two school days that are excused absences to visit a college, while juniors are granted one day.

College Events and fairs are a way for students and parents to visit with several colleges at one location.  There are also several seminars on the financial aid process and applying to colleges.  There are many local opportunities to attend local college fairs throughout the school year.  Please click here for a full list of college fairs and information about the fairs.

To request your College Visit Days, you must pick up a College Visit Request form from your Guidance Counselor at least 3 days before your desired visit day and then return the completed form at least two days prior to your college visit day.  College visit days may be taken after September 1st and no later than March 31st.
