Michigan Technological University- Summer Youth Programs
Every year Michigan Tech hosts Summer Youth Programs- week-long explorations designed to create awareness of, and stimulate interest in, the world of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Students get to experience college life in a residence hall, explore campus, and meet others with similar interests. They enjoy team competitions, creative games, and tons of outdoor activities in Michigan’s beautiful Keweenaw Peninsula.
The programs cover a wide range of subjects and even offer several scholarship opportunities for students. Two of these programs are:
Women in Engineering (“WIE” grades 9-11)
Engineering Scholars Program (“ESP” grades 9-11)
These two programs allow academically talented young men and women to explore various fields of engineering through hands-on projects and classroom investigations. Students explore real engineering labs, meet leaders and role models, and learn about careers in areas including mechanical, environmental, electrical, chemical, civil, and materials engineering. WIE/ESP are twin programs; ESP is co-ed and WIE is for women.
