Congratulations went out to Montini Catholic freshman Erin Slaten for being named Bronco Artist of the Month for November. Erin was selected for the honor by art teacher and Fine Arts Department Chair, Ms. Stephanie Kuecker. "Erin has been very successful in art class. I could tell right away that she had been trained to see and draw objects using elements and principles of art," said Ms. Kuecker. "She came into class with a previous knowledge of shading, drawing, and art disciplines not common to freshman!"
"I was very surprised to be selected for Artist of the Month," said Erin. "I feel so honored!"
Although she loves to work in all mediums, and has always enjoyed doing arts and crafts when she was younger, Erin says her favorite is oil. "I like drawing and painting landscapes and still life," she said.
"I can't wait to see Erin further develop her art skills over the next four years," said Kuecker. "Ms. Keucker is inspirational because I can tell that she loves what she teaches, and I think that it is important in life to do what you love," added Erin, whose sister, Shea, a senior at Montini, also inspires her with her photography and nail art passions.
Although nourishing plans become a neonatal nurse after college, Erin assures that art will always continue to be a part of her life.
Erin is the daughter Mark and Mary Jane Slaten and attended Our Lady of Peace School in Darien.
