Young women at Montini Catholic recently took part in Help Save the Next Girl's "Let's Chalk About It" event. Help Save the Next Girl is a national, non-profit organization formed in memory of Morgan Harrington, a 20 year old Virginia Tech student who was a victim of predatory crime. It focuses on awareness and empowerment to predatory danger. "The foundation fosters mutual respect and camaraderie with young men," explained Montini teacher, Mrs. Jill Smith, who organized the project on Montini's campus. "Their connections to law enforcement and the media enhance their ability to quickly get the word out on missing persons. Through this project, I wanted to remind our students to always be alert in every situation and to look out for one another."
The organization also provides outreach support to victims' families. According to their Facebook presence, they believe a strong media presence promotes their mission to keep young women and communities alert to predatory danger.
