On Sunday, December 9th, several members of Montini Catholic's Lasallian Youth Group, accompanied by advisor and Theology teacher, Mr. Denis Block, took a break from the holiday shuffle to experience Mass at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Chicago. Founded in 1846, the beautiful Franciscan church has been at its current location in the Loop since the 1950s.
"The trip was a way for us to recall our Lasallian values and center ourselves with Christ during the hectic Christmas season," said Mr. Block. After Mass, the group wandered through the Christkindlmarket in Daley plaza where they enjoyed hot chocolate and potato pancakes. "Although the German food was awesome, they still ventured off to Pizano's for pizza," joked Block.
Montini's Lasallian Youth Group is part of a worldwide movement of young people attending Lasallian schools who have been positively impacting the world for over 20 years. Lasallian Youth builds a community of concern and friendship among themselves and others through regular meetings, monthly gatherings and social activities. Each year Montini's Lasallian Youth Group participates in various service projects including trips to Feed My Starving Children, Ronald McDonald House, Easter Seals and PADs. They take part in the Midwest Gathering of Lasallian Schools every summer for a week of prayer and fellowship. Currently they are planning their annual pilgrimage to Washington D.C. to attend the world's largest pro-life event, the March for Life (January 18, 2019).
