Juniors In Campaign Mode for Student Government Positions!
Posted 05/03/2019 03:09PM

With the 18-19 school year ending, and a new one on the horizon, eleven junior hopefuls are vying for leadership roles in Montini Catholic's Student Government.

Each spring Montini prepares to say goodbye to current officers and hello to a fresh group of leaders. Under the guidance of teacher and moderator, alumna Megan Steiner '10, the students hope to make their own mark on their school with new ideas for fundraising and friendraising events. Unlike our country's presidential candidates, Montini students are only allowed to campaign for their desired roles for one week - with elections scheduled for Thursday, May 9th. "Ballots will be sent out via email and voting will close next Friday after school," informed Ms. Steiner. She strongly encouraged the candidates to put up posters, show videos at lunchtimes and campaign to homerooms.

Montini Catholic's Student Government is tasked with conceptualizing, planning and organizing student activities throughout the school year. The officers weigh suggestions and make decisions on many school events, service programs and fundraising drives. One of the team's essential responsibilities is planning and executing Montini's annual Golden Gobbler Food Drive at Thanksgiving. The drive provides much needed food to pantries throughout the community.
