It was an evening of celebration at Montini Catholic's 27th annual Maroon & Gold Gala held on Saturday, March 10 at the Abbington in Glen Ellyn. Each year the gala includes live and silent auction items, split the pot games and other several raffles with earnings going to support the Lasallian college preparatory school's mission of shaping the leaders of tomorrow, both academically and spiritually.
"Our gala celebrates our students, their many accomplishments, as well as those who continually support our academic, athletic and extra curricular programs," said President Jim Segredo. "Every year we look forward to getting together with our parents, alumni and friends!"
Premier sponsor of the evening was Five Star Audio Visual of Naperville. Music and entertainment was provided by Upscale Entertainment of Villa Park.
The event was emceed by Montini alumna, Marcella Raymond '83, general assignment reporter and fill-in anchor for WGN Morning News. "Anytime I can come back to my alma mater and help them reach their goals, I am honored to do it," said Marcella. "My memories from Montini will last a lifetime!"
Several key Montini family members were honored this year: Kathy Wagner Rezny '79 was presented with the Loyalty Award, James Van De Velde '70, the Leadership Award; Anne Westerkamp, the Faculty Dedication Award, Frank & Candie Gentile of Atomic Transmissions in Villa Park received the Signum Fidei Award. Lastly, the Maryann O'Neill Family was presented with the Family Legacy Award.
