Montini Catholic's faculty, students and families congratulated Valedictorian Monica Oleski, during the school's 49th Annual Graduation ceremonies on Sunday, May 20th.

A resident of Westmont, and a graduate of St. Joseph School, Monica ranked an impressive first in her class of 177 seniors.

Monica was recently honored at Montini's Academic Awards and Founder's Day ceremonies for being an Academic All Star and a recipient of the President's Award for Academic Excellence. She is also an Illinois State Scholar, and an AP Scholar. Monica is a member of Montini Catholic's Mu Alpha Theta (Math Honor Society) and Math Team. She is also the recipient of Montini Catholic's Silver Award for Excellence in both Math and English.
"As we leave Montini and face our futures, we find that one thing in life that we can always rely upon is uncertainty," said Monica in her address to her fellow graduates. "This uncertainty is what so often drives us to test the boundaries and achieve what we may have once considered to be impossible. Our own curiosities, passions, and pursuits of greatness have pushed this class to success in areas of academics, athletics, and numerous extracurricular activities. I hope the members of this class will continue this trend of challenging ourselves by overcoming adversity and delving into the unchartered territory of the future"

Monica concluded her speech with a few words of advice from singer and songwriter, Frank Ocean "Be yourself and know that that's good enough. Don't try to be someone else. Don't try to be like someone else, don't try to act like someone else, be yourself. Be secure with yourself. Rely and trust upon your own decisions - on your own beliefs."

Monica plans on attending Northwestern University where she will be majoring in Environmental Engineering.
