Congratulations went out to Montini Catholic senior Kailey Ryan (of Lombard) for being named Bronco Artist of the Month for September. Kailey was selected for the honor by art teacher and Fine Arts Department Chair, Ms. Stephanie Kuecker.

"Kailey is a very dedicated and reliable senior student," said Ms. Kuecker. "She has a great understanding of herself and is able to share artwork that is personal." Kailey, a graduate of Sacred Heart School, is an avid art enthusiast who has completed Art I, II and Design III while at Montini. She is also taking an independent study course and recently completed a summer course offered at the University of Illinois and a weekend course offered at the Chicago Art Institute of Chicago. Her goal is to complete her portfolio for college. "I want to major in an art field in college," says Kailey. "I can't imagine being in any other career."

"I was surprised and excited when I found out I was selected," said Kailey, "I'm definitely thankful for the honor. I have always had an affinity for art, it's always been my passion." Her favorite medium is acrylics, and she especially enjoys painting portraits and abstracts. "I also love doing ink drawings," she said.

The canvas isn't the only area where Kailey is able to display her creative talents. She has also performed in six plays/musicals during her time as a Bronco and is currently gearing up to play Dorothy in the school's upcoming fall play, 'Hooray for Hollywood' (November 2-4) She is also a member of the Montini Catholic Drama Club, the TrebleMakers (singing group) and Liturgical Choir.

Kailey is proud to have her artwork featured in the hallway this month and says that, although she is the sole artist of her family, they share her enthusiasm and are very supportive and proud of her endeavors as an artist.

"Ms. Kuecker definitely inspires me to focus on my goals and my aspirations, which is really helpful, especially when I'm applying to colleges," she said. "Kailey is a serious student that takes every opportunity to make her art stronger," adds Ms. Keucker. "I am very proud of her and am sure everyone will enjoy seeing her work in the hallway this month!"
