Senior Nick Mandra Earns the 2026 "Stevie's Way Award"

The award is presented to high school baseball players who best exemplify the passion, grit and selflessness of Steven "Stevie" Bajenski.
Montini Catholic in Lombar​d is recognizing senior Nick Mandra (Westchester) for earning "Stevie's Way Award" at the 2026 Do It Stevie's Way Tournament. ​Nick and his Bronco​ teammates​, coached by 2026 Lawless Coach of the Year recipient, Eric Scott, went 3-2 ​a​t ​t​he ​tournament - which took place May 20 through May 22nd at various locations in the Chicagoland area. 
 
​"​The tournament is about more than on-field results​,​" said assistant Bronco coach and 2015 Bronco graduate, Jordan Lazowski. "Th​e​ Stevie's Way Award is a reflection of not only Nick’s on-field success, but his character, passion, attitude​ and emphasis on playing the game the right way in whatever he does. He embodies the love of both the game and his teammates that this tournament is all about."
 
​Earlier this year (February 4, 2026) year Nick committed to continue his athletic pursuits at the collegiate level and will be playing baseball at Oakton Community College​ is Des Plaines.

​T​he Broncos are grateful to the entire Bajenski family for ​t​heir inclusion in this tournament, and ​a​re looking forward to participat​I​ng again next year.​ "Most importantly, we’re proud of Nick and how he represents both himself and Montini Baseball every day​,​" said Coach Scott.

The "Do It Stevie's Way" Tournament (officially the Steven M. Bajenski Memorial High School Baseball Tournament) is an annual Chicagoland baseball tradition featuring some of the area's top high school teams. It honors Steven Bajenski, a Mt. Carmel High School baseball player who passed away in 2009.​
