Coach Mike Bukovsky '83 Earns Coach of the Year Accolades!

Congratulations, Coach Bu! Who's Going for Number Two this Season!
Montini Catholic proudly congratulates Mike Bukovsky '83 on being named the 2025 CCL/ESCC Tony Lawless White Division Coach of the Year.  Coach Bukovsky and his Broncos have reached the Quarterfinals of the IHSA Playoffs with an 11-0 record this season. They are currently riding a school record 21 game win streak, dating back to week 5 last season, as they pursue the football program's eighth IHSA State Championship.

This fall Mike celebrated his 36th year coaching football at Montini, and he also serves as the Admissions and Development Ambassador, Head Wrestling Coach and Assistant Softball Coach.   He has coached 17 High School State Championship teams and has been recognized with numerous coaching awards (listed below) - and just last year, after coaching Montini's 7th IHSA State Championship team - he became the first and ONLY coach in IHSA history to earn state championships as head coach in three sports – Wrestling (8), Softball (2), Football (1)!

– Three-time Illinois High School Wrestling Coach of the Year
– Named National High School Wrestling Coach of the Year (2009)
– Named Chicago Bears High School Football Coach of the Week (2018)
– Two-time Illinois High School Softball Coach of the Year
– Named Illinois Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association “Man of the Year” (2010)
– Presented with the Lifetime Service Award to Wrestling (2020)
– Inducted into Montini Catholic High School Hall of Fame
– Inducted into Illinois Wrestling Coaches and Officials Hall of Fame (2008)
– Inducted into National Wrestling Coaches Hall of Fame in Stillwater, OK (2024)
– Inducted into Chicagoland 16” Softball Hall of Fame (Team Induction)
– Inducted into the National Wrestling Coaches Hall of Fame (Stillwater, OK)
