Montini Catholic Sponsored Grants & Scholarships

The mission and passion of our founder St. John Baptist De La Salle in France during the 17th century was to provide education to the children of the poor. Today one of the criteria of a Lasallian School is to provide education to all children especially children of families who want a Catholic education but cannot afford today’s tuition rates. Montini Catholic High School offers need based grants.

Montini Catholic Placement Exam Academic Scholarships
Montini Catholic Academic Scholarships are awarded to incoming freshmen who sit for the Saturday, December 6, 2025 placement exam at Montini Catholic. These scholarships are renewable for four years, if the student maintains a satisfactory GPA and is otherwise in good standing with Montini Catholic. The amount awarded is based on the national percentile ranking on the Placement Exam which must be
taken at Montini Catholic.

• Students scoring between the 95th – 99th percentile will receive a $2,500 annual scholarship ($10,000 over four years)
• Students scoring between the 90th – 94th percentile will receive a $1,500 annual scholarship ($6,000 over four years)
• Students scoring between the 85th – 89th percentile will receive a $1,000 annual scholarship ($,000 over four years)

The Legacy Scholarship is a $1000 renewable award that is awarded to any eighth grade student who takes the placement examination at Montini Catholic on Saturday, December 6, 2025 and is accepted into the Montini Catholic Class of 2030. To be eligible for this scholarship, an eighth grader must have a mother, father, and/or step-parent who is a graduate of Montini Catholic High School. This grant is automatically applied to your tuition account. The Montini Catholic Legacy Scholarship is renewable for four years and the following is the criteria for the scholarship to be renewed each year:

• Student must maintain a minimum of a C average
• Student must have a satisfactory conduct record.
• Student must have a satisfactory attendance record.

Additionally, families who are in need of additional financial aid to be able to send their son or daughter to Montini Catholic are still eligible for other sources of financial aid and scholarships.

The Catholic Education Foundation (CEF)
The Catholic Education Foundation (CEF) distributes hundreds of need-based scholarships and education program grants each year. The CEF generates its funding through an annual fall scholarship campaign, parish assessments, and donor directed planned gifts. This grant is applicable only to those families who are registered parishioners of a Joliet Diocese Parish. Please visit the CEF Tuition Assistance web page for additional information.

Kazma Family Foundation Scholarship
This four year scholarship is available for students in the Class of 2029. Students must have financial need, attend a Catholic parish and have average to above average grades. To apply families must complete the FACTS application as well as the Kazma Family Foundation application. Please follow the links below for instructions and the application.

• Families must complete the FACTS Application as well as the separate Kazma Application.
• The application will open in late December, early January.
• Deadline: March 1, 2026

Bishop Blanchette Scholarship
The Council of Catholic Women of the Diocese of Joliet annually offers a number of scholarships to students planning to or already enrolled in a Catholic high school in the diocese. Students in grades 8 - 11 that will be or are attending Montini Catholic High School are eligible to apply for these scholarships. Students must be registered in a parish with a local Council of Catholic Women, since it is these local councils which do the fund-raising. Students must also show significant financial need, and actively attend their parish.

These scholarships are awarded on a year to year basis and grants are paid directly to Montini Catholic High School. To apply for one of these scholarships, students and their families must request the necessary forms from the President of their parishes CCW. • The FACTS Aid and Grant Form is required.
• Deadline: April 1, 2026
• Note: Only one application and fee is required with FACTS to be considered for a Montini Catholic Grant, Catholic Education Foundation Grant, and Bishop Blanchette Scholarship. In order to complete a FACTS Application, you will need your 2024 Tax Return and 2024 W-2 form. The application fee is $35 for a FACTS application.

Frederick & Ann Smith Memorial Scholarship
The Ryan Smith Foundation sponsors this scholarship that is named in the memory of Fredrick Smith who was very involved in St. Pius X (Lombard) parish activities and the grade school basketball program and his wife Ann Smith who taught 1st Grade at St. Pius X for 25 years. This is a $2500 renewable scholarship for four years. Students who are interested in applying must: be a St. Pius X student, complete the
application, provide a 7th and 8th grade report card that reflects a minimum B average, demonstrate the need for financial assistance, demonstrate a commitment to extra-curricular involvement as a student at St. Pius X and demonstrate a commitment to community service. Families applying for this scholarship must also complete the FACTS application. 

• Complete the Smith Memorial Scholarship Application along with the FACTS application.
• Deadline: April 1, 2026

Johnathan Weiger "Johnny Always Wins" Memorial Scholarship
The Johnathan Weiger “Johnny Always Wins” Memorial Scholarship has been established by the Weiger family in memory of their son Johnny. In August of 2011, Johnny attended Montini Catholic High School for his freshmen year but succumbed to complications from Leukemia in November of his sophomore year. In his short time as a Montini Catholic student, Johnny was a high honor student
while he played on the freshman football team. It was his fight, determination and faith that stood out the most as to who he was. It is in that spirit that the Johnathan Weiger “Johnny Always Wins” Memorial Scholarship was created.
The Johnathan Weiger “Johnny Always Wins” Memorial Scholarship is a $1,000.00 renewable scholarship. The recipient of the scholarship will be selected by the Weiger family based on the applicant’s grade school academic record, extracurricular involvement, character and faith. The scholarship recipient will be notified by mail and the scholarship will be awarded at a school mass.

LINK Unlimited Scholarship 
LINK Unlimited is a not-for-profit organization that provides educational services and mentoring to economically disadvantaged African American youth from the Chicago area. For more information go to www.linkunlimited.org. LINK is available to current 8th graders.

• The application process begins in October, 2025 for the 2026-2027 school year.

Holy Family Scholarship Chicago Scholars
HFS Chicago Scholars provides partial high school scholarships for academically motivated yet economically disadvantaged young men and women in Chicago. Criteria are based on conduct, GPA and rank on standardized tests.
