Montini Catholic in Lombard congratulated Downers Grove Rotary Club Service Scholarship recipient, senior Andrew Sparke. Andrew was presented the award by Rotary Club President Cathleen Mead and was formally recognized Sunday, April 26th at the Lasallian college preparatory high school's Senior Celebration Awards.
He was selected for the scholarship for his compassionate leadership and unwavering commitment to serving others. Through his roles as a Peer Minister, tutor, and active member of several service organizations at Montini Catholic and beyond, Andrew has consistently dedicated his time and talents to uplifting those around him. "Whether helping fellow students achieve academic success or supporting families in need through local outreach initiatives, Andrew leads with kindness, empathy, and a genuine desire to make a difference," said Montini Campus Minister Michael Blanchette. "His selfless spirit and willingness to serve have made a meaningful impact on both the school and greater community, inspiring others to lead with the same compassion and care."
In addition to his passion for serving others, Andrew has also excelled academically throughout his time at Montini Catholic. An Illinois State Scholar and AP Scholar with Honor, he has distinguished himself as a member of both Montini’s National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society. Andrew has also been a dedicated member of the Bronco Math Team, helping lead Montini to an impressive 8th place finish at the State competition this spring. He was also honored this spring as a recipient of the President's Gold Award for Academic Excellence. His commitment to academic excellence, paired with his spirit of leadership and service, truly reflects the values of the Montini community.
One of Andrew’s most meaningful service experiences was hosting an exchange student from Colombia, helping him navigate a new school, culture, and daily life. Through this experience, Andrew demonstrated what service truly means - putting others first and creating a sense of belonging.
“We are incredibly proud of Andrew and all that he has accomplished during his time here at Montini Catholic," said Principal Chris Tiritilli. "He exemplifies what it means to be a Bronco - leading with compassion, serving others with humility, and striving for excellence both inside and outside the classroom. His dedication to academics, service, and faith has made a lasting impact on us, and we are confident he will continue to inspire others and achieve great success in the years ahead.”
Andrew plans to study aviation and pursue a career as a professional pilot. He will be attending Auburn University in the fall. He is a graduate of St. Mary of Gostyn grade school in Downers Grove and a parishioner at St. Mary of Gostyn.
