Golf Coach Ben Michelon Receives Special Recognition

Golf Range Association of America (GRAA) recently celebrated their 2025 Top 100 Growth of the Game Teaching Professionals.  Among these professionals named is Montini Catholic Varsity Golf Coach Ben Michelon.

This is GRAA's 14th year of recognizing the best teachers and coaches in golf and highlighting the "cream of the crop" in public, private and stand-alone facilities. With the popularity of golf now greater than ever, GRAA believes it is vital that  professionals like Coach Michelon continue their records of excellence and educate the next generation of industry leaders at the same time.

According to GRAA, their 2025 Growth of the Game Teaching Professionals are recognized for not only teaching the technical aspects of the golf swing but also the physical and mental facets of the game. "They are motivating their students to be better every day, and as a result, they’re driving the success of a variety of golf facilities. From small stand-alone driving ranges to large municipal courses and private clubs with extended waiting lists, our GRAA Growth of the Game Teaching Professionals are the trusted stewards of the game."

Coach Michelon, Golf Instructor at Glen Oak Country Club, just finished up his 4th year coaching at Montini Catholic and 3rd year as the Head Varsity Coach.

“I’m incredibly humbled and honored to be recognized by the GRAA," he said. "Growing the game has always been about creating opportunities for kids to fall in love with golf especially at Montini where our focus is on access, fun and development both on and off the course. Golf has given me so much in my life and being able to introduce it to the next generation in a positive and welcoming way is something I’m extremely grateful for. This recognition really reflects on the support of our school, families and players who buy into our process every day.”

Coach Michelon is greatly enjoying his coaching time at Montini, "What I love so much about coaching golf at Montini is to see how much we’ve grown the last 4 years. We’ve qualified for sectionals as a team twice and this year had one individual state qualifier and CCL player of the year.* We’ve really grown a lot as a school and I’m excited to keep our success growing and putting Montini on the map in the golf world."

He officially accepted his award at the 73rd Annual PGA Show at the Orange County National Golf Center in Orlando, Florida (January 20-23, 2026) (picture below).

“We couldn’t be more thrilled for Coach Michelon and this well-deserved recognition by the GRAA,” said Brian Casey, Montini Athletic Director. “His passion for growing the game of golf, his commitment to teaching and the way he connects with our students truly set him apart. This honor reflects not only his excellence as a coach and instructor, but also the positive impact he has on our program and the culture he continues to build at Montini.”
