Catholic Schools Week - Celebrating Service!

As part of their Catholic Schools Week service project, students at Montini Catholic in Lombard volunteered to assemble meals for Ogden Avenue Supportive Housing in LaGrange through Meal Train. Ogden Avenue Supportive Housing (OASH) is a new construction housing community serving the homeless population. The activity was organized by Assistant Campus Minister Kelly Davis and sponsored by Montini's Campus Ministry department. Mrs. David delivered the meals once they were assembled and packed.
"We had close to twenty kids volunteer their time to pack lunches for unhoused clients at the shelter and we were able to provide over 70 meals" said Mrs. Davis.
Also during the week, students brought in hats, scarves and gloves to be donated to local shelters. Each year, Bronco students are challenged to seek out service opportunities within their local communities. Montini's Campus Ministry team continuously seeks out avenues for service as well. At the end of December, Montini students have worked close to 9,000 hours of service - the number is expected to double by the end of the school year.
Mrs. Davis is very proud of the students who stepped up to help during a very hectic Catholic Schools Week. "Today's service opportunity was a great way for our students to help those on the margins of society as we celebrate the gift of service during Catholic Schools Week."
