Congratulations to Annalee DeFeo '25

Montini Catholic junior Annalee DeFeo (Lombard) has been named Bronco Artist of the Month for January.  She was nominated for the honor by Art teacher Stephanie Kuecker.

"Annalee is a very dedicated student, in the art room and in sports.  She works hard to earn success and that perseverance has carried over into her art projects.  She truly deserves this honor and we are so proud of her."

"I’m very excited about the news of my selection and super honored to be selected," said Annalee - who is one of only ten students chosen for the honor each year. She developed her creative spark for art at a very young age as a student at St. Pius X in Lombard.  "I have always loved my art classes in school and wanted to continue here at Montini. I feel happy when I am designing and doing art and I love how you’re able to let your creativity wander. Art allows you to express yourself and create something new."

Ms. Kuecker has been very impressed with Annalee and is currently happy to have her in her Pottery class. "Right now she is working on a character sculpture.  I can wait to see the work she produces in this class."

Although she enjoys many mediums of art, Annalee has recently gravitated towards digital design and the many creative possibilities it presents. She is strongly considering majoring in Graphic Design in college. Most recently she was the winner of Montini's Christmas Card design contest, with her digital design mailed out to Montini's entire school community. "My grandma was an art teacher and I grew up always doing arts and crafts with her, I have always loved art ever since then. I also loved my art classes at St. Pius with Mr. (Paul) Velat." Annalee is also happy to be able to collaborate with Ms. Keucker. "She has taught me so much. She has introduced me to many different areas of art and has made them all very fun experiences to learn about."

Annalee takes the word 'involvement' very seriously throughout her three years at Montini. Athletically, she is a two sport athlete, as a member of the Cross Country and Soccer teams. She is a member of Montini's National Honor Society as well as a member of Montini's Student Government Executive Board, helping to make key decisions relating to student activities. She inspires others to get involved spiritually as a member of Peer Ministry and enjoys getting the news out on Bronco activities as a contributor to the Bronco Breakdown student newsletter.

"I  hope to keep working with Annalee, she is on her way to becoming a well rounded student and artist," said Ms. Kuecker.  "I have no doubt that she will be very successful in Graphic Design or anything else she chooses to pursue!"

Under the direction of Alumni Relations Officer, Mary Albert, Montini Catholic High School was proud to wrap up their fourth year of hosting their popular career focused Lunch & Learn series. The alumni led sessions provided an opportunity for Bronco juniors and seniors to learn more about potential careers. Through Montini's Lunch & Learn, Bronco alumni serve as mentors, offering guidance and support to students as they navigate their academic and professional journeys. These alumni connections can also provide an outlet for Montini students to build relationships for potential future internships and job opportunities. The last two Lunch & Learn sessions of the 2024-25 school year were held on Monday, April 28th and Wednesday, April 20th. Monday's session featured Former Secret Service Agent, Richard (RG) Starmann '89, whose remarkable career with the Secret Service began in 1997 and continued for 25 years as he served during the Clinton, Bush and Obama presidencies. Wednesday's sessions included Guy Papa J.D., M.A., B.A., ‘94 (Law Enforcement Bureau Chief, DuPage County Sheriff’s Office and former Deputy Chief of the Berwyn Police Department for over 21 years), 2019 graduate, Mariella Maduzia RN, (Registered Nurse, Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, Level IV NICU) and Dan Lowery, PE, '08 who is Assistant Vice President & Construction Services Team Leader at Gannett Fleming TranSystems (speaking on Civil Engineering). "We are so happy to conclude our Lunch and Learns this year knowing that our students walked away with valuable career advice and help with exploring their options and making more informed decisions," said Miss Albert. "And we are so thankful to our alumni for taking the time to visit with and share their knowledge and experience with our students."
