"The opportunity to guide the program has been a dream of mine for a long time."

Montini Catholic is proud to announce that Coach Eric Scott will be assuming leadership of the Lasallian college preparatory high school's Baseball Program.   Coach Scott (above with Athletic Director Brian Casey) as the 6th Head Baseball Coach in Montini Catholic history.

Coach Scott has enjoyed the last thirteen seasons as Montini's lead Varsity Assistant Coach working under Hall of Fame Head Coach Bill Leeberg, Coach Bob Landi and Coach Rich Janor. Over the course of this period, Coach Scott has been in the dugout, assisting in over 260 wins, nine regional championships and the schools first and only IHSA State Championship in 2019. Coach Scott, a former Division-2 collegiate catcher at Quincy University, has worked extensively with Bronco hitters, catchers, infielders/outfielders and pitching staff during various points in his tenure.

In addition to his work at Montini, Coach Scott has served many roles in the travel baseball community, including as a head coach at the high school levels, coaching two seasons in the Midwest Collegiate League. He was also the Head Catching Instructor at the Bulls/Sox Academy for 6 years.

Off the field, Coach Scott serves as Montini's Assistant Athletic Director and Director of Operations. "From a baseball perspective, he still is our Head Groundskeeper and was very influential in the process of making the dream of infield turf a reality," said Athletic Director Brian Casey. "In total, very few individuals have invested as much time, energy and effort on Montini Catholic High School and Montini Catholic Baseball as Coach Scott has during his tenure."

Coach Scott is currently working on assembling his coaching staff over these next couple of weeks in advance of some summer workouts/practices. He has already been corresponding with the student-athletes of the program since the start of the summer, preparing the roadmap to best be able to foster program growth and development throughout the off-season.

"I'm very excited for Coach Scott and the future of our baseball program," added Casey. "Over his tenure here as an assistant coach, I don't think anyone has dedicated more effort, energy and time into Montini Baseball as he has. In addition to his playing and other coaching experiences, he has learned from some great baseball minds, and I think that, along with his ability to foster great relationships with our young men will lead to tremendous successes on and off the baseball field while continuing our winning tradition."

"I look forward to leading the Montini Catholic Baseball Program that's rich in history and tradition," said Coach Scott. "The opportunity to guide the program has been a dream of mine for a long time. Thanks to my predecessor, Coach Janor, the Montini Baseball Team has a strong foundation and I hope to take it even further."

This month, Montini Catholic's Band is celebrating a National Champion (Class A) title in the National Catholic Band Association's national band competition. "We are incredibly proud," said the Lasallian college preparatory high school's Music Director Donnie Glowinski. "This is the first time in school history that Montini Catholic has earned this title." Each year, Catholic high schools from across the country are invited to submit performance recordings to be adjudicated by a panel of expert judges. "This prestigious honor is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and talent of our student musicians. Their commitment to excellence has brought great pride to our school community," added Glowinski. "Every year, we work on becoming better musicians, and every year, the band rises to the challenge. I am so unbelievably proud of the work this group has done this year and everything they have accomplished. I am really looking forward to the future to see what these students will be able to do!" In the summer of 1953 a small group of concerned band directors, led by Director of Bands Robert F. O’Brien, met on the campus of the University of Notre Dame to discuss the Catholic School Band, its particular problems, and what might be done to further its development. Fr. Theodore Hesburgh Notre Dame President, gave the welcome speech. Mr. O’Brien then proposed goals for the organization and the NCBA was born. Today, NCBA's office is located at Villanova University Office of Music Activities. The NCBA recognizes the value of music within the Catholic school community. Their mission is to establish high musical, educational and ethical standards in Catholic schools' band programs.
